NEW PAGE: The Night of the Squirrel

UPDATED: Downloads Shop The Perfect Lie Stalkers Anonymous Fun Lovin' Criminals Upcoming Releases

A year after the first episode was completed, I am pleased to announce that 'The Night of the Squirrel' Episode Two will shoot later this month, starring Josh Fedder as Agent Fedski and William Hayes as Professor Wong. To celebrate, I've put up an Official Site for the show. Its pretty barren at the moment, apart from an episode guide but you can expect to be able to download the first two episodes in the near future.

People have been nagging me about this for a while so (courtesy of James), you'll finally be able to download The Perfect Lie by the end of the month. And maybe James' making-of... and if you really want it, my gloriously sarcastic audio commentary. The reason for the dvd delay is because there's a lot of extra footage lying around, that we shot , which I'm going to edit together. I think Simon still has all the original tapes, so I need to get them off him.

Regular site visitors may have noticed some activity on the Stalkers Anonymous site. The (quite frankly, ugly-looking) site's going through a major revamp and will be back up next month complete with music from William "Wong" Hayes.

Maui Homicide 2 is coming! Visit The Unofficial Karmic-Chi Love Thing for more info. Can't wait for the trailer.

Check out the Black Diesel Cinema Store for updated info and prices for all our products.

Make sure you scour down the main page for more info on all current and upcoming Black Diesel Cinema releases (including Just Chillin' The Mix - coming later this month).

And finally, you can now download the full Bankrupt Radio Session which Patrick and I recorded last July.

(P.S. I've now written the first 40 pages of "The Day That Never Was" - more info soon)

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

19/11/04

The Best of Bankrupt Radio is now offline. Commisarations to all those who managed to download it. Congratulations to all those who didn't.

I just thought I'd give you a heads up on everything I'm working on (film-wise) at the moment cos I seem to come up with more ideas everyday - many of which (clearly) never get made (does anyone remember a little film called 'Bankrupt'?):

Living The Nightmare (aka the film I scrapped after one day of shooting) - Due out: April 8th 2005

The Day That Never Was - this comic-book film noir has been on my to do list for two years now. I wrote the story in 2002 but its taken me until now to actually do anything with it. I've just finished writing the complex opening sequence, which sets the scene for the rest of the film. One thing that I can guarantee though is that it will be a true original with elements of "Sin City", "The Devil's Advocate", "Groundhog Day", "Back to the Future", "Memento", "Reservoir Dogs" and "Twin Peaks" thrown into the mix. See what I did there. Due out: Don't ask me that. Just don't.

Stalkers Anonymous - remember this? The genre-bendingly insane & mind-f***ingly awesome horror comedy musical Will and I promised you would be out in 2002. As most of the film is improvised, the first draft of the script was completed in a couple of weeks way back in August 2002. Around half the songs have been written since then (they vary in quality) and we now have the technology to properly record the score, which should be happening in the Christmas holidays, providing Will has written it by then. Due out: Two years ago.

The Night of the Squirrel - Episode Two: Spring 2005

Nighthawks - the much anticipated follow-up to "The Perfect Lie", (which is centred around a group of crime-fighting felines) has been put on the backburner, until 2005 that is. Not least in part due to the uncooperation of star Joe Brooker, who objected to the script's lasy premise & Resurrection style storyline and the disappearance of co-star Franck Brusset, shortly after the premiere of the film. At present though , everything is very hush hush at the top-secret house of producer A.W. Loyale but insiders have described the film as roughly a cross between "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", "Die Hard", "Showgirls", "Spunky Friday" (no I haven't heard of it either) and "Kill Bill". Due out: Summer 2005

Coincidence - another short film and this one pretty much speaks for itself. Expect it to feature several people you haven't heard about for a long time. Due out: 2006

Bankrupt (aka the first film I ever wrote) - yes its that film again (the one which never seems to go away). You may find this hard to believe but I'm actually having another crack at the old script. Due out: December 2009.

Going Bankrupt: The Unmaking of the Movie - long-in development documentary compiled of the hours of footage shot for the notoriously unlucky crime thriller. Due out: Spring 2005

Dr Wong & The Invisible Science Machine - sci-fi comedy otherwise known as the directorial debut of William Hayes. At the time of writing, only the theme tune had been written. I'll be producing. Due out: Ask Will

12/11/04

I apologise for the lack of regular updates at the moment. I simply don't have anything interesting to say. My creative juices seem to be failing me. For instance, I saw 'The Cooler', 'Oldboy' and 'Alien vs Predator a month ago and am still yet to review them. Expect reviews to be up sometime in the next couple of weeks. You can also expect an A to Z of Cool update, audio clips from last year's live radio session and major features on my 2 current fave shows "Freaks & Geeks" and "Twin Peaks" (hey, that rhymes).

Today, I was suitably bored so I spent 6 hours playing around with the The Best of Bankrupt Radio (OFFLINE) mix cd, which runs for a healthy 77 mins and contains a huge 60 tracks of audio goodness. Click here to both view the final tracklisting and to download it. As per usual I must warn you that the mp3 is pretty big (70 MB to be exact) and so I don't recommend that you download it if you have a slow internet connection. And as with September's Tarantino Mix, the file will be only be up for a week so download it while you can.

Otherwise, enjoy!

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

16/10/04

Seeing as the release of the dvd is looking less and less likely to happen until December 2004, I thought I'd put up the original script for "The Perfect Lie" (which slightly differs from the final film - i.e it probably worked better on paper). To read it, click here. And check out the ultra-stylish first poster for the "Get Shorty" sequel "Be Cool" ( what a cast) - cool being the operative word (see if you can spot The Rock):

10/10/04

WARNING: REVIEW OVERLOAD -

Dodgeball, Collateral, Hero, Garfield, Saw, Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow, Saved and Shark Tale

- all reviewed inside.

(note: the release of "Shaolin Soccer" has been delayed again till 12th November - if you still can't wait that long, its available on Region 1 dvd. "Bubba Ho-Tep" is out in UK cinemas on a limited release but is well worth the effort.)

Hope everyone who wanted to, managed to download the Tarantino Mix which was put up again for a week - James has had to take it down again due to site traffic.

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER

24/09/04

UPDATED: Fun Lovin' Criminals Upcoming Releases

Just thought I'd let you know, I'm back at uni tomorrow so there won't be an update for at least a week.

Worth mentioning are the two films of the month on the Main Page , Shaolin Soccer & Bubba Ho-Tep, two of the best films you'll see this year.

You can also look forward to reviews of 'Dodgeball', 'Collateral' and 'Hero' & The Best of Bankrupt Radio.

Gotta Go,

(17:46, AW)

19/09/04

As warned, The Tarantino Mix is now offiline. If you didn't manage to download it in time, e-mail me and I'll see what I can do.

After the tragic events of Tuesday, I haven't really been in the mood for writing but today I managed to write-up six new Movie Reviews (Super Size Me, Hellboy, Open Water, Undead, The Punisher & Shaolin Soccer), three of which aren't even out yet.

Head-on collision kills three on A246

ICSURREYONLINE.CO.UK

Sep 16 2004

By Alex Wright

THREE people died and a fourth suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision in Effingham.

Nick Jeans and Dean Homer, both believed to be 19 and from Banstead and Cheam respectively, were killed when the white Peugeot 106 they were travelling in hit a silver Citroen ZX.

A third man in the car, believed to be the same age, suffered serious leg injuries.

The driver of the Citroen, Anne Gordon, a Guildford High School English teacher, of Howard Road, Bookham, also died in the accident.

The tragedy happened between Effingham Golf Club and Salmons Road on the A246 Guildford Road at about 7.36am on Tuesday.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene.

The injured man was taken to Epsom Hospital.

Three fire engines from Leatherhead, Painshill and Epsom and four ambulances attended the scene.

Firefighters took more than an hour to cut two people free using hydraulic cutting equipment and air-powered tools.

Firefighter Barry Andrews said: "When we arrived the ambulance crew were already there and it was a case of three people definitely seriously injured and a lady by herself so the priority was to get them out straightaway.

"They were quite tangled in the car so we had to cut to free them."

The road between the Effingham traffic lights and Greendene was closed until about 12.30pm the same day.

Both Mr Jeans and Mr Homer were former pupils of St John's School in Leatherhead.

Scott Ephgrave, a friend of the teenagers who went to the same school, was with them only the night before in Guildford.

He said: "It was supposed to be Nick's first day at university tomorrow." Another friend, Ed Thurston, from Leigh Place in Cobham, who had been at school with the pair from the age of 13, remembers encountering Dean during his gap year at Sydney Harbour in Australia.

He said: "They were just great guys up for a laugh.

His mother, Liz, who came to visit the scene after being told about the accident by a friend, said: "They had done really well at school and they were just the nicest bunch of chaps. They were just so close.

"They were known as bear and beans - bear as in cuddly bear and beans
rhyming with jeans.

"They had got so much to live for and to cut it short is so tragic - what a
terrible, terrible waste."

Friends and former classmates came to lay flowers at the scene of the
accident throughout the day.

One read: "Dean and Nick, great lads who'll never be forgotten and made such an impact on us all."

Another simply said: "Two of the nicest blokes I've ever known. I will always remember you guys."

A statement from Nicholas Haddock, headteacher at St John's School where the teenagers studied until last year, said: "We share a profound sense of shock and loss with the families and friends of Nick Jeans and Dean Homer.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their families at this very sad time."

Anyone with any information about the incident can contact the Surrey Police
collision investigation unit on 01932 569922.

You will be missed.

Rest in Peace.

NEW PAGE: The Tarantino Mix

UPDATED: Movie Reviews The A-Z of Cool

We're back with a whole host of goodies for you to play with.

First off, click onto Movie Reviews to watch me rip apart 'The Chronicles of Riddick' (is it really that bad?).

Secondly, there are 16 new entries to The A-Z of Cool + an improved navigation system at the top of the page so you can see which are the new additions - its also been stretched to 2 pages.

Thirdly, you've probably already heard. I halted production on 'Living the Nightmare' after one day.

Fourthly, be prepared for an exclusive feature on The Matrix Trilogy - coming soon.

Fifthly, "The Best of Bankrupt Radio" mix cd will be available from the site next week.

Nextly, judging by a recent comment on his blog Bailey seems to have got it into his head that no sequels are improvements on their predecessors. May I draw your attention then towards the following 20 (yes 20) movies, which I believe to be "Superior Sequels". If you have any further additions to the list, I urge to post them up on the Chatterbox

Aliens, Austin Powers 2, Bad Boys 2, Batman Returns, The Bourne Supremacy, Desperado, Evil Dead 2, The Empire Strikes Back, The Godfather Part 2, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, Hot Shots Part Deux, Kill Bill Vol.2, The Muppets Take Manhattan, The Rescuers Down Under, The Return of the King, Snatch, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Toy Story 2, X-Men 2

P.S. Sorry for wasting your valuable time and being so silly.

Finally and the big news for movie/music fans is that I have put up a 65 minute Tarantino Mix (OFFLINE) entitled "Royale With Cheese" which I did last week. The mix is made up of 40 tracks and features a selection of the finest music from his films together with dialogue snippets + a few choice words of wisdom from the man himself. Essentially, if you like his films then you'll love this mix. Check out the full tracklisting here.

Two words of warning though:

1) The mix is 45 MB in size and so people without broadband may find it takes a fairly long time to download (if you can't be bothered to wait, e-mail me and I'll try and fix you up with a copy on cd).

2) This mix WILL ONLY BE UP FOR ONE WEEK. So you better be quick. After the 7 days, you'll have to e-mail me if you want to be directed to the "secret server" (I'm trying to keep the traffic down).

Other than that, enjoy! I hope you have as much fun listening to it as I had making it.

Penultimately, the trailer for Sin City has hit the web (albeit, its a little hard to find - hint hint, click here) and it rocks. Head on over to Ain't It Cool News for some awesome unfinished shots from the film, one of which you can see below (by the way, the yellow bastard is the unrecognisable Nick Stahl, who played John Connor in T3 - I kid you not):

And Lastly, a little plug for an excellent Kill Bill mix cd which I managed to pick up last week.

TRACK LISTING

1) Intro

2) Bang Bang (Overture) - remix by Blackstone & Atari

3) Truck Turner (Can't Knock the Hustle) - remix by Blackstone & Atari

4) Missted Nerve - remix by Billions McMillions

5) Tokyo Interlude

6) Battle Without Honor or Humanity - remix by Blackstone & Atari

7) Ironside Jumpoff - remix by Billions McMillions

8) The Flower of Carnage (Fives Mix) - remix by DJ Gerry V

9) Twisted Nerve (Biter's Revenge Bonus Mix) - remix by Blackstone & Atari

Check out HanzoSteel.net for more info on this ultra limited edition remix compilation.

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST

20/08/04

I've just put up the last 5 Bankrupt Radio clips (sniff sniff) and yes they do include the infamous Bailey/Simon donuts clip and the Chris Bampfylde prank phone call - probably our finest moment.

(20:29, AW)

17/08/04

Last night, James & I decided that the end of 'Living the Nightmare' was unfilmmable. And so I spent the whole of this morning re-writing the entire last act. And would you believe it, it just might be better than the original. Anyhoo, James & I are doing a little bit of pre-production tomorrow ahead of next week, when we should finally begin filming proper.

The first half (there are quite alot of them) of the Bankrupt Radio 1 clips are now up on the Downloads page and they're all pretty good - I'm particularly fond of Simon's Easy Greek Food Commercial - in fact, they're probably the best so far. You can expect the second set of clips top be up on Thursday (the 19th).

UPDATED: Fun Lovin' Criminals

"Woo Hoo. Woo Hoo Hoo. Woo Hoo. Woo Hoo Hoo. Woo Hoo. Woo Hoo Hoo. Woo Hoo..."

You probably get the idea. I can't get that f**king song out of my head. It also probably hasn't helped that my brother has been humming it solidly for the past 14 days. Damn Tarantino. I'm back from Portugal and I'm in great need of a destraction right now. So here beginneth the lesson. As I've no doubt already mentioned on this site, Robert Rodriguez's ground-breaking take on hyper-cool comic-book film noir 'Sin City' (now due out on April 1st 2005) will be one of the best movies of next year. For further proof, check out the poster below.

To view the other 3 posters and find out exactly why comic-book fans went crazy all over the world when Rodriguez and co premiered ten minutes of footage at the San Diego Comic-Con last week, visit ComingSoon.net here.

As you probably have(n't) noticed, I've taken the Poster Gallery down, simply because there's not much point to it.

Check back later in the week for the rest of the Bankrupt Radio clips.

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF JULY

16/07/04

Hope everyone's having a great holiday. Just thought I'd let you know I'm gonna be away for a couple of weeks so there won't be any updates until the beginning of August (although you can look forward to sound clips from Bankrupt Radio Volumes 1 & 4 - including the prank phone call which really screwed Chris Bampfylde up - and the official site for 'Living the Nightmare' - filming next month). James has told me to warn you that the server will probably be down at some point during the next couple of days. He's just sharpening it up a little bit so it shouldn't take too long. If you're bored and have nothing to do over the next couple of weeks, I recommend you go and see 'Spider-Man 2'. You can read my review here. I recommend you give 'King Arthur' a miss though and 'Thunderbirds' is looking pretty dodgy aswell. Or if you're looking for a good play/musical to see, don't miss 'Jerry Springer: The Opera', now showing in the West End. I saw it over a year ago and its still probably the funniest thing I've ever seen. Just make sure that you don't work too hard. Have yourself a good time once in a while. See you in two weeks. Happy holidays!

(23:18, AW)

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE

I caught a preview of Kevin Smith's new film 'Jersey Girl' yesterday. You can read about both that and 'Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Radcliffe' on the Movie Reviews page.

(15:03, AW)

07/06/04

You can now experience The A-Z of Cool in amazing technicolour. Plus you've probably noticed, the 'Living the Nightmare poster's up on the main page. Most of the links on the site are currently down. They should be back up pretty soon.

(22:49, AW)

06/06/04

Okay, another brand new section this weekend. Its called The A-Z of Cool and it pretty much speaks for itself. It essentially covers anything and everything which I find "cool". You'll notice when you visit the page that its not yet finished. I'll be adding to it everytime I get some inspiration. And for the moment, you'll be denied the pleasure of seeing all the beautiful pictures which should be accompanying the text. As you've probably guessed, I'm having yet more computer problems. So much so that I've sent the new 'Living the Nightmare' poster to James so that he can put it up on his site. Keep checking back to http://kimber-ja.demon.co.uk/ and I'll let you know on the Chatterbox when its up. There'll be a more in-depth update later on in the week.

Later,

"There's nothing wrong with letting the girls know that you're money and that you wanna party." (Trent Walker, 'Swingers')

I'm back baby. I apologise for my faulty computer. It likes to play. I've really gotta learn to control the damn thing.

As promised, there's an exclusive review of Jon Favreau's new film 'The Big Empty' (which hasn't even got a UK release date yet) up on the Movie Reviews page together with Van "Hmm" Helsing.

Its currently looking as though The Perfect Lie dvd will be available from the site in July.

Finally, stay tuned for the cool new 'Living the Nightmare' poster. The film should be going into production around July/August for a late 2004 release date. Look out for the official site coming soon.

16/05/04

As you've probably noticed, I'm currently having huge problems with the site. We'll hopefully be back up soon with write-ups of 'Van Helsing' & 'Troy' and a UK exclusive review of 'The Big Empty'. (12:00, AW)

BIRTHDAY MESSAGE - 2004

There's not really much point to this update (although, if I'm being honest, there's not really much point to any of my updates). I just thought I'd let you know that I'm 19 today (to see Simon's birthday present, go to his site here and scour the page for news of 'Face/Off 2' - the new film starring Bailey Oliver). So does it feel any different to being 18? No, not one bit. Whatever it may feel like, I'm officially no longer a teenager. To mark the occasion, I just thought I'd say a huge thanks to all those people who have supported (or hacked into) the site over the last two (crazy) years in the life of the lunatic that is yours truly - Pat, Simon, Bailey, James, Will, William, Dave, Josh, Tony, Jack, Martin, TJ, Miles, Harry, Daisy, Angie, Alexa, Alex, Simon B, Ben Thornton, Mike, McQueen, Chris, MC Francky, Joe, Terry & the two other people who've actually visited this site - or stumbled upon it (dazed & confused) when searching for something completely different (and relatively normal in comparison…unless you're Bailey). At least some people are visiting the site.

While, black diesel cinema is clearly not the most searched for subject on the internet (Bailey can tell you everything you need to know about the other), I'm pleased to discover that quite a few fans are actually visiting my Fun Lovin' Criminals site, largely due to a link on the main FLC fan site, Difontaine.net. A huge thanks then to the site's moderator, Martin. Cheers for the mention. The site's profile has also been lifted slightly by some world exclusive news on FLC soundtrack songs and the visit of "Headrush" director Shimmy Marcus, who has subsequently put my early review of the film up on the film's Official Site. This terrific (and still unreleased) film is a cult hit waiting to happen. All the best to Shimmy. This film is your calling card.

James gave me a "distressing" phone call the other week complaining that "too many" people were going on the site (apparently, there are a ridiculous number of entries for this site over on Google) and that he was worried that I was going to be sued for copyright fraud (hence, the taking-off of various songs on the site). Who knows what the next year holds for BLACK DIESEL CINEMA?

Over the last year (and a bit), we've already seen all this:

BANKRUPT RADIO PRESENTS "FRIDAY NIGHT FUNK" - mix album (April 5th 2004)

THE PERFECT LIE - short film (March 11th 2004)

THE NIGHT OF THE SQUIRREL - tv series pilot (December 19th 2003)

BK RADIO PRESENTS "JUST CHILLIN' VOL.2" - compilation (11th August 2003)

BANKRUPT RADIO LIVE SESSION - spin-off radio session (July 4th 2003)

"IN SEARCH OF THE YETI" - spoof mockumentary (July 4th 2003)

BANKRUPT RADIO PRESENTS "JUST CHILLIN' VOL.1" - compilation (3rd June 2003)

"THE MAKING OF ALICE IN WONDERLAND" - BK TV documentary (26th March 2003)

BANKRUPT RADIO VOLUMES 1-4 - radio show

(Broadcast 27th November 2002, 11th December 2002, 6th March 2003 & 15th May 2003)

So what of the next? What is (far from) certain is that my first (finished) film (as a director) "Living the Nightmare", will be out by the end of the year. Check back in December to see either a) the finished results or b) just how big a liar I really am.

You can also expect a couple of music videos ("Comforting Sounds" & "Friday Night"), the dvd for The Perfect Lie (now more likely to be available June/July 2004 - what? A delay? But Black diesel cinema projects are never delayed. Another triumph for Mr Sarcasm) and if Dave T or Simon B ever get their act together, the second episode of 'Night of the Squirrel' will be out in the next 12 months (and the website will be up when Patrick finally sends me the photos!). As well as all this, Patrick, Simon, Bailey & I will hopefully (finally) be recording a new edition of Bankrupt Radio (back due to popular demand) in the Summer. The genre-bendingly insane & mind-****ingly awesome horror comedy musical Stalkers Anonymous should be scaring the shit out of you (for all the wrong reasons) by next Easter and will bankrupt ever get made?

While its unlikely that any of this will actually happen, one can at least take comfort in the fact that:"There may be trouble ahead" (Frank Sinatra, 'Let's Face The Music & Dance').

Take care,

Andrew "Loyale" Watson (8th April 2004)

07/04/04

I'm putting this up cos I just love it to pieces. The dialogue's taken from a brilliant tv series I used to watch in the late 90s called 'Now and Again' (Michael Wiseman, a middle aged insurance seller with a family, dies in a subway accident. The Government rescues his brain and offers him a new life, in a new body. A new genetically engineered and enhanced body at that. The only condition is that he can never have any contact with his family and friends). The series (1999) stars Eric Close - Without a Trace - and Dennis Haysbert - 24 - and was pure gold from start to finish. Here's one of the reasons why:

Michael Wiseman (Eric Close): Can I fly?
Dr. Theodore Morris (Dennis Haysbert): What?
Michael Wiseman: Can I fly? You know, like, uh, Superman?
Dr. Theodore Morris: Mr. Wiseman, over the past 6 months we've performed a complicated series of operations. I'm tempted to call them transplants, but in truth, there is no "you" to transplant them to. Let's call them operations. In fact, let's agree that you have been the recipient of some of the most sophisticated surgical thinking and practice in the history of medicine. In addition, you have been innoculated with and intravenously fed over 700 highly experimental and, I believe extraordinarily promising hormones, steroids and vaccines that also were developed uniquely for you in this project. Now I mention all that because, and I'm embarrassed to admit it, that in the midst of all those surgeries, all those implant procedures, all the beta trials, tests, failures and successes... it just never occurred to any of us to shove a rocket up your ass.

If only I could write dialogue as funny as that. For some stupid reason, the show was inexplicably cancelled after one season but if you want to catch it, they frequently show repeats of it over on the Sci-Fi Channel.

Okay, just got word in from the BBFC. 'Kill Bill Volume Two' has been rated 18 (and that's final - for strong violence) so sorry to disappoint all you teenyboppers out there. And the new trailer will premiere at 00:30 tonight so if you're near a computer at this time, scout the internet (I suggest ComingSoon.net) for any signs of life.

UPDATED: The Perfect Lie

(17:20, AW)

03/04/04

Just a bit of random (and unnecessary) fanboy excitement here. The film adaptation of classic comic book film-noir 'Sin City' will be directed by none other than Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino and the comic's creator, Frank Miller. How cool is that? Mickey Rourke, Josh Hartnett and Carla Gugino have already been confirmed to appear and Rodriguez is currently in talks with (wait for it) Maria Bello, Kate Bosworth, Steve Buscemi, Benicio Del Toro, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Douglas, Jaime King, Brittany Murphy, Christopher Walken, Bruce Willis and Elijah Wood. Coolest cast ever? We'll just have to wait and see. ETA: 1st July 2005.

And talking of films, I have four scripts in the pipeline and 'Living The Nightmare' WILL BE OUT BY THE END OF THE YEAR. More details soon.

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH

31/03/04

Just a quick word out (and a little minor exclusive) to all those people who were supposedly 'offended' by the violence in 'Kill Bill Volume One'. Volume Two has just received a 15 certificate from the British censors and reviews so far have suggested that this is Tarantino's finest film so far. Leaving you with little to complain about this time.

(21:28, AW)

As promised, I've now (finally) updated the Movie Reviews section.

Okay, some great behind-the-scenes photos for 'The Perfect Lie' are now up here. Expect a full site to be up soon.

06/03/04

We're currently in the editing suite frantically trying to piece together 'The Perfect Lie' before its release on Tuesday (we also have a couple of last minute reshoots on Sunday night due to faulty equipment!). The final (pretty much) credits for the movie are now up on the Filmography page and I've created a new Projects page for those projects which have not yet been completed (look out for a couple of new additions).

NEWS FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

21/02/04

Just a quick update, I've just found a cool new Kill Bill fan site, featuring (amongst other things) some fantastic downloads of music from the film which didn't appear on the soundtrack. Check it out here.

(14:01, AW)

20/02/04

I've updated the FLC site with some more exclusive downloads.

In addition, here are 4 more pieces of ear candy. One - OFFLINE - is a a great track by one of the best new bands of the moment, Two is a fantastic remix, featuring three songs which you would never think of mixing, Three is quite possibly the coolest remix I've ever heard & Four - OFFLINE - is another piece of Eighties nostalgia which is sure to plant a smile on your face (calling all Ferris Bueller fans). For more great mixes, check out DisparateDan.com and Mash-Ups.co.uk.

19/02/04

I've updated the Filmography page with info on 'The Perfect Lie'. I'll also be putting up a production diary in the next couple of weeks.

And its been confirmed. 'Kill Bill Volume Two' will hit UK cinemas on April 16th 2004. The same date as the US. Less than two months to go.

08/02/04

Things are going to be pretty stressful and hectic over the next month as we (Dave - producer, Simon (Boyles) - director, Jack - actor?, Alexa - cinematographer and myself - writer) attempt to make our Video Film Project. I've just finished the script which, at the moment, could be called anything from 'Friday Night' to 'Hotshot' to 'A Perfect Lie'. All we know is that the film will (have to) be finished by March 7th so we've got our work cut out for us. When I have any time, I'll be putting up reviews of 'School of Rock' and 'The Last Samurai' (which I saw a month ago but still haven't reviewed yet). See you soon.

UPDATED: Movie Reviews

Reviews for 'Love Actually' and 'American Splendor' are up but you'll have to wait a little longer for 'The Last Samurai', my time's very limited.I just found out some great news. Martin Freeman (Tim in 'The Office') has just been cast as Arthur Dent in the film version of 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy'. Now that's what I call perfect casting.

Lastly, I don't know if anyone caught the first episode but my television tip of the week is Sky One's brilliant new plastic surgery drama 'Nip/Tuck', which is showing on Tuesdays at 10. Gory, sexy, funny and cool, this is one of the best things I've seen on tv since 'The Sopranos' began back in 1999.

NEW PAGE: Picture of the Week

UPDATED: Poster Gallery Fun Lovin' Criminals

Its been a very weird week at uni. Essays, samurais, squirrels & Dave's fuzzy beard. What would I do without it?

Last Saturday, I went to see 'The Last Samurai' but then somehow managed to end up watching 'Love Actually' instead. Don't ask. Anyhow, I finally caught Cruise's latest blockbuster on Wednesday night with a jet-lagged Dave and the Legend himself (I'm detecting a touch of sarcasm even as I'm writing this), Mr Jack Shanks. There should be reviews of both of these + 'American Splendor' up on the site when I can a) be bothered & b) think of something witty & clever to say.

I've updated the Poster Gallery with the new poster for comic-book adaptation 'The Punisher' and the highly stylised one-sheet for the 'Dawn of the Dead' remake.

There's also a new page, Picture of the Week, which will basically compile these as they develop each week.

I'm currently preparing a blog site so I can update this site more frequently & Jack's also given permission for one of his film's to be used on the upcoming downloads page (he's also banned me from putting up another - hmmm - the joys of the internet. We'll have to see).

'Evil Dead' fans rejoice. Mezco toys have just released these groovy collectable 'Army of Darkness' figures. The set consists of Evil Ash, the Bog Witch & the great Chinned One himself. For more info, check out Mezco.net or Bruce Campbell Online.

Finally, I don't know who actually thought this would be a good idea but 'Wild Things 2' seems to be heading towards UK video stores on 23rd February 2004. I know the original was fantastically sleazy fun but does anyone (considering the film's only a 15 certificate) actually think this will work. One look at the poster will tell you that this will just be a carbon copy of the original, without the star power or the quality (or Bill Murray):

09/01/04

!!!BREAKING NEWS!!! And I'm still pretty pissed off about this but it has been officially confirmed that 'Kill Bill Volume 2' has been put back till April 16th with 'Volume 1' out on DVD on the 12th (presumably so Tarantino can spend more time on the extras). Damn Miramax. No official reason has been given yet but at least it gives people a chance to see the first volume on DVD before the second hits cinemas. Even so, people who have read the script say the ending is ****ing amazing (with just a few twists on the cards) and Michael Madsen is promising that his (much anticipated) fight is one of the most gruesome scenes in movie history. So why can't they release it now dammit? I'll have reviews of indie hit 'American Splendor' and Tom Cruise epic 'The Last Samurai' on the site this weekend, before I head back to uni.

The first great film of 2004. 'Lost in Translation' review. Click here.

I've updated the Poster Gallery with some cool new stills including 'Van Helsing' & 'Shaun of the Dead.' I've even added 'Gremlins 2', just for a bit of unecessary nostalgia.

First and foremost, a very Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all enjoyed yourself as much as I did.

Secondly, you may be wondering where 'The Night of the Squirrel' site is. Well, all I can say is that it will be up as soon as Patrick sends me the promo photos.

To compensate, I've written an exhaustive preview to all the year's most exciting films. You can check it out here. I've also compiled a list of my top 10 favourite films of last year. You can see that here.

At the moment, I'm working on a new downloads page so you can actually watch some of the stuff we've filmed so far (this will include the lost footage from 'Bankrupt', 'Jack Shank's Evil Dead' and the pilot episode of 'The Night of the Squirrel'). I'm also hoping to put up some Bankrupt radio soundbites - I'm just hoping the server's going to hold up.Tune in tomorrow night for an early review of Bill Murray's new film 'Lost In Translation'.
