I've now added some live videos from the Brixton Academy gig in 2001 + the promo for "Bump" to the Downloads page.

Yes I know, its been over 5 months since my last update but hopefully this one will make up for it. First off, congrats to the guys on their last tour. I was at the London Forum gig and it rocked beyond all recognition. Make sure you swing by the Official Site for a selection of choice live cuts from the 2005 tour.

Meanwhile, I've added two complete live sets (22 tracks in total) to the Downloads page, from 1998 and 2001 respectively. I'm also working on getting some of the FLC stuff I have on video up onto the site. I'll let you know if and when this happens.

Some of you may be wondering what the hell happened to the film Oh Marbella that FLC scored a couple of years back. Well, as far as I'm aware of, none of the material that FLC recorded for the soundtrack has made its way onto the finished version that is currently out on dvd in Germany. I ordered a copy and their music is conspicuously absent from the film, with the exception of "Loco" - which for some reason plays in the background of one of the film's scenes. I'm thinking that this is probably because the film didn't end up getting a wide cinema release and so the guys have decided to hold back the material for use at a later date.

P.S. I'll be revamping the entire site when I have time in the summer and updating all the relevant sections.

Finally, if you found this site by mistake and want to know what's what in the world of the Fun Lovin' Criminals then, as usual, I strongly recommend you check out DiFontaine.net the best FLC site on the net.

I've added some updated live tracks from the Paradiso gig in 2003 to the Downloads page.

According to the Official Site (check it out for a full list of tour dates, new photos, album samples + new b-side sound clips) the finalised release dates for the single and album (delayed due to copyright reasons involving the track 'Where Do I Begin', now renamed 'Ballad of NYC') are 15th August and 22nd August respectively.

Here are the tracklistings for the two Mi Corazon cds (which you can now pre-order at hmv.co.uk):

CD 1:

1) Mi Corazon (Radio Edit)

2) Lullaby of Barland

CD 2:

1) Mi Corazon (Album Version)

2) High Road

3) Live, Have, Love

4) Mi Corazon (Video)

I recently became a moderator at DiFontaine.net so from now on most updated news will be posted there first (I post as KarmicChi).

I've added FLC's appearance on Kink FM tonight to the Downloads page.

I thought I'd give you a heads up. I just heard the new single (on Croatian radio of all places - see the post below). On first impressions, "Mi Corazon" can be described as very summery trumpet-lead latin-fuelled funk (think "Living on the Streets", "Loco" or even Bodega b-side "Sleepyhead") with some silky-smooth spanish vocals from Huey (not a surprise that the album's been moved forward a couple of months then). We like. Can't wait for the album.

15/06/05

"Livin' in the City" has now been pushed back a week till July 25th to be preceded by the single "Mi Corazon" on the 18th. They've been filming the video this last week in Miami. There's more info on the Official Site together with UK tour dates for September (let us assume/hope that Maui Homicide 2005 will play at the start of each gig), a selection of cool photos, two new re-mixes (What Had Happened & TFLC) and an exclusive non-album joint, "My Style".

It looks like the single received its first radio play today on this station (its featured on the playlist) but so far I've found no way to actually listen to the song.

Check out this hi-res look at the stylish album cover (courtesy of Amazon.co.uk) & the final tracklisting:

1) I Love Livin' In The City

2) How It Be

3) That Ain't Right

4) The Preacher

5) Where Do I Begin

6) Is Ya Allright

7) Gave Up On God

8) City Boy

9) Girl With The Scar

10) Mi Corazon

11) Will I Be Ready

Lastly, calling all Irish FLC fans. Headrush finally hits cinemas in Ireland on June 24th. The Official Site has also now been updated with a look at the trailer. Still no word on whether there will be a soundtrack release or not though.

ACCORDING TO AMAZON.CO.UK THE NEW ALBUM, ENTITLED "LIVIN' IN THE CITY", WILL BE RELEASED ON JULY 18TH 2005.

!EXCLUSIVE - HEADRUSH SOUNDTRACK CLIPS!

I've put some FLC soundtrack clips - ripped directly from the Headrush dvd - up on the Downloads page. Tracks 2 & 3 (T43 & Love To Goofy) are pretty short (as is the amount of time they feature in the film) and have dialogue over them - "T43" sounds like classic FLC while "Love To Goofy" has a My Sin vibe about it. But the first track, "Lick" is 2 minutes of bliss. It's a slight change of direction from FLC's older stuff but its still a lovely chilled-out little number that provides the perfect soundtrack to the film's sex scene - which explains the sexy sound effects in the background.

At the time of writing, Headrush is due out to buy in Australia (Region 4 dvd) on April 15th. If you have a multi-region player, you can pre-order it from here.

Finally, if you haven't already, scoot on over to the Official Site to check out the 4 minute trailer for Maui Homicide 2, one of the funniest things you'll see all year.

Later,

10/12/04

After a year without even a hint of an update, the Official Site has finally received some action. It looks like the new album will be out sometime later next year while our prayers have finally been answered in the form of Maui Homicide 2. The trailer premieres on December 15th. Can't wait!

I've added two XFM Radio Interviews/Sessions from last year to the Downloads page (I strongly recommend the Breakfast Show interview, which features a hilarious phone-in section entitled "Ask Huey") and you can read a review of FLC's recent gig at Thetford Forest here.

(17:00, AW)

01/08/04

News From the Official Site:

"Oh Marbella will hit Costa del Sol cinemas on the 17th September this year. The special Christmas DVD will be out across Europe in November." "

Looks like its skipping a UK theatrical release then. You can now watch the trailer at the http://www.ohmarbella.com/

As well as this, we now (thanks to Martin) have our first news on the new album.

VF: You're recording a new album, the follow-up to ‘Welcome To Poppy's'. How's it sounding?
Huey: We're still in the midst of recording so it's hard to say. We know who we are now and what we're doing. This is our fifth record and on this one we're trying to get a little more rocky when there's the need for some edgy hard rock and a little more soulful when we want to mellow it out. We've got about five songs wrapped up. The best thing about this album is working with our new drummer, Frank The Rhythm Master, who's from Leicester . He's our first real drummer, as the other guys were more guys who just played drums with us. Frank, though, is like our third band member and we're all working together on the songs working out harmonies and arrangements between us.

As you'll probably know if you've visited Martin's site recently, 'Oh Marbella' finally has a release date. It is due to be let loose in selected UK cinemas from September 2004, with a dvd release likely to follow around Christmas time.

(15:22, AW)

12/04/04

I've added two new sections to the site, B-Sides & Flipside.

(20:05, AW)

06/03/04

I've updated the Singles page with some more in-depth info and there seems to be some construction going on with the Oh Marbella site (there's a new front page). I'm also hearing that the movie has just claimed UK distribution and is due out in the Summer. Fingers crossed!

(23:34, AW)

20/02/04

I've added some songs which FLC have sampled for some of their tracks ('King of New York', 'Sugar' & 'Loco') to the Downloads page.

(15:24, AW)

15/02/04

I've added yet more positive Reviews to the site. It also seems that 'Beautiful' is genuinely being released as a single tomorrow and it will be a limited release featuring a live version of 'Got Our Love'. FLC have been doing a reasonable amount of promotion over the past week (including spots on Radio 2 and BBC 6 and appearances on 'Richard & Judy' and 'Today with Des & Mel'). Their excellent acoustic performance of 'Beautiful' on Des & Mel should hopefully be up on the site in the next month (when I find out how to work the thing).

(17:02, AW)

08/02/04

I've updated the Albums page with info on FLC's last 3 releases: 'Poppys, Snacks & Rarities' and I've added an extended live version of 'Big Night Out' to the Downloads page.

(12:25, AW)

31/01/04

Finally, we have word on the new single and it looks as though the release of 'Lost It All' has been scrapped altogether (either that or it’s a double a-side) if this cover is anything to go by. No word yet on the final tracklisting but expect it to be fairly similar to that of the original 'Lost It All' single. Information on the HMV website suggests that this could be a limited release. 'Beautiful' is, at this time, due to come out on the 16th of Feb but expect that to change (there's still no sign of a video and its due out in 2 weeks). I'll keep you posted on both the release date and the tracklisting.

(11:44, AW)

25/01/04

I've just added three more Downloads to the site, including quite possibly the best FLC live track I've ever heard, 'Up On The Hill (Live on Radio One)'. Listen to this track and savour it because it is unlikely that it will ever be released on cd. It really is dreamy.

(14:22, AW)

I've added some new shots to the Photos section and there'll be more live tracks up later today.

Plus here's a more in-depth look at the tracklisting for discs two and three of A-Sides, B-Sides & Rarities:

24/01/04

I've added six more (full length) rare live tracks to the Downloads page (Loco, King of New York, My Sin, Half a Block, The Summer Wind & We Have All The Time In The World). Expect more soon.

(00:14, AW)

I've just put up a brand new Downloads page, which currently features some audio snippets from the recent concert at the Paradiso. To see and hear the full 105 minute concert go to http://www.fabchannel.com/. I've got a whole host of other rare live tracks that I've collected over the years which I'll be putting up in the next couple of weeks. I'm just gonna check what's on the A's and B's boxset next week and put up the tracks which aren't included on it. But for now, enjoy!

(17:51, AW)

17/01/04

Here's the artwork and tracklisting for A's, B's & Rarities which looks to be finally touching down on February 2nd 2004. It looks like a pretty comprehensive retrospective of their career up until 'Bag of Hits' and a lot more value for money than the shameless rip-off that was 'Scooby Snacks: The Collection' (even if I do already own more than half of the tracks). The 3 disc set retails for £15.99:

According to Martin at Difontaine.co.uk, 'Lost It All' has been withdrawn from release at the last minute (probably something to do with all the problems Sanctuary has been having). Hopefully, we'll see a release sometime next year. Anyhow, you can still watch the video on Martin's site. Info on Amazon.co.uk is suggesting that EMI's third (yes, that's three in a year and a half - for God's sake, FLC have only released four proper albums!) greatest hits (or lets steal some more money) collection, 'A-Sides, B-Sides & Rarities' will finally be released on 24th January 2004. Still no details on the content though.

I've added two new reviews to the Reviews section: a positive New York Post write-up of 'Welcome to Poppy's' and an 'awesome' BBC review of their recent gig at UEA Norwich.

!!EXCLUSIVE - HEADRUSH REVIEW + 3 NEW SONGS!!

I was lucky enough to catch a screening of 'Headrush' at the Raindance Film Festival last night and as promised, I've gone and reviewed it for you. To see the genuine article, click here. I can also reveal that in addition to their classic, SMOKE 'EM, there are three new FLC songs on the movie soundtrack: LICK, T43 & LOVE TO GOOFY and they're all performed in the classic FLC-style we've come to expect from the guys.

I've also got some brand new info about 'Oh Marbella' courtesy of http://www.thezreview.co.uk/. Apparently, the first screening took place in London on 17th October. There was a "…superb turn-out at Sony theatre, not many empty seats, and no early leavers. A jolly good film, extremely humorous." It "should appeal to ALL lovers of Spanish holidays, as they should be able to relate to at least one of the 'incidents' ". Sounds cool. In addition, "The Film is looking great, it now premieres in Marbella, Spain on the 20th of November to a private VIP invite list of 300 pax. Marbella Films are currently in negotiation with some of the UK's top distributors... details will follow at the night of the premiere..."

For a more in-depth look at the film, check out:

There's a gonna be an exclusive review of 'Headrush' on the site on Tuesday evening so make sure you check back then and if you haven't already done so, check out Fabchannel.com to watch an excellent live recording of the boys in action at the Paradiso on October 3rd 2003.

18/10/03

Looks as though the new single 'Lost It All' has been delayed till 10th November (a delay? - fancy that happening). If you haven't seen it, the video (featuring Neil Morrissey) is currently showing on The Amp (Sky Digital Channel 469). Last weekend, I just happened to be flicking through the music channels and suddenly the Difontaine logo popped up. It's a bit of a stylistic departure from their other videos but still very cool nonetheless. Anyway, here's the complete tracklisting and a very cool shot from the video. Good to see a couple of live tracks featuring, leading the way for the live album/dvd next summer (or the next…or the next…these things tend to get delayed).

CD1:
1. Lost It All
2. What Had Happened (Bombjack Remix)
3. Lost It All (Live)

CD2:
1. Lost It All
2. Take Me Back (Cooley High Mix)
3. Got Our Love (Live)
4. Lost It All (Video)

In other news, 'Headrush' was shown at the Leeds Film Festival last month, where it came 11th out of the 100 entries at the festival (not bad at all) receiving some ecstatic reviews (most of them pointing out Huey's drug-dealing transvestite as a movie highlight). Hopefully, this means we'll be getting a UK release soon cos I desperately wanna here those new FLC tracks. In interviews recently, Huey's been hinting at a possible November release. Fingers crossed. Until then, here's an exclusive look at the Dutch theatrical poster:

As for 'Oh Marbella', FLC's other movie project, press on the official site is suggesting that the film will finally be having it's first screening this month. And here's a brief press release from earlier in the year (courtesy of http://www.versatiletv.com/), regarding the soundtrack:

American band, the 'Fun Lovin' Criminals' have signed a soundtrack deal with Marbella Films LTD to score the film and perform the Oh Marbella title track. They are also co-venturing the Soundtrack. FLC have just signed to BMG records and are due to release their next album this summer. Hopefully it will feature the Oh Marbella title track.

The Oh Marbella soundtrack is very commercial and has a strong Spanish influence. Featuring tracks from Wham, Groove Armada, FLC, Sargento Garcia, and more...

I'll keep you posted on any developments on both films.

(12:37, AW)

04/10/03

I've added a Times review of the Astoria gig to the Reviews page and the boys have added some photos of the 'Lost It All' video shoot to the official site. Go there here.

(14:43, AW)

26/09/03

According to Amazon.co.uk, FLC's next single will be 'Lost it All' and it is due out on October 27th.

(17:15, AW)

17/09/03

Just a quick update to tell you that the new official site is now up and it's really cool. Go there now here or face the consequences.

(18:53, AW)

15/09/03

Added another couple of reviews to the site: Glastonbury (July 1999) and Glasgow Barrowlands (September 2003). And if you haven't yet, check out Martin's site at Difontaine.co.uk cos it really is very cool. He's doing interviews with FLC drummers both old and new (Steve and Frank) on the site soon so go to the site and get your questions answered.

(22:57, AW)

14/09/03

In case you were wondering, 'Welcome to Poppy's' entered the chart at number 20. Not a surprise, given the lack of advertisement but a disappointment compared to the top 10 entries of 'Come Find Yourself' (7), '100% Colombian' (3) and 'Loco' (5).

(19:26, AW)

11/09/03

I've added two more reviews to the site.

(20:03, AW)

10/09/03

Hope you're enjoying the new site.

I've added another excellent write-up of Welcome to Poppy's to the Reviews page.

I've also put up a new Articles/Interviews page, which currently features a recent interview with Huey from Bang magazine.

If you missed Huey's hilarious "he hasn't had any drugs" appearance on 'Never the Buzzcocks' on Monday then don't worry. It's repeated on Sunday night on BBC2.

Otherwise, the new album's out now, so go out and buy it. It's probably their best record to date.

If you wanna catch FLC live on their current UK tour then you better be quick. It kicked off in Preston last night and is selling out fast. I know for a fact that their gig at the London Astoria (23/9) is already sold out but they seem to be selling tickets over on EBay. And if you live in my area (near Guildford, Surrey), they're playing the Guildford Civic Hall on the 22nd.

You can check out both parts of a terrific interview with Fast at: Scum1 and Locoweb.

(16:44, AW)

28/08/03

Here's the tracklisting and cover for the new FLC single, out on Monday:

CD One:

1. Too Hot (Radio Edit)
2. Too Hot (Dub Mix)
3. Save The Babies

CD Two:
1. Too Hot (Album Version)
2. Too Hot (Drum 'N Bass Mix)
3. Too Hot (Straight Up Mix)
4. Too Hot (CD-Rom Video)

This morning, the boys were on the XFM Breakfast show and you can catch Huey on MTV2's Gonzo, tomorrow at 5.30pm (Sky Digital Channel 442).
